Pandemonium

Expression and explosion.

Miller Family Wines Co. boasts some of the best plots in Paso Robles, a winegrowing area which is steadily becoming increasingly important. An area with a great legacy of stories about the pioneers, the first rebels who populated the territory. A region which has marked a before and after in the conception of wines and which is seeking to claim its place as high-quality wine region.

Pandemonium was created with the intention of being a brand which embodies different artistic manifestations which transformed and represented a turning point. From chaos, something always emerges which exudes passion and energy.

The purpose of the brand must be to transform the peaceful, promising area of Paso Robles into one of the regions that leads the way in winemaking. It must surprise, spearhead and be the flag bearer of a new oenological avant-garde.

With three initial varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Blend, and Zinfandel – each must show a distinctive way of interpreting the art.

OBJECTIVES

  • Reaffirm with the new brand how the territory is riding high and enjoying excellent times: innovation, modernity, and appreciation.
  • Mark a “momentum”; a “Big Bang” which generates an authentic, differential oenological proposal.
  • Create a visual metaphor which describes the wine and its peculiarities.

PROPOSAL

After the chaos and the storm cometh the calm. From the cosmic origin of the universe, the “Big Bang”, we recapture the moment of creation in which matter, time, and space came into being. Through metaphor, we seek parallels between artistic expression and the emergence of this new wine region.

Expressing emotion is the means we use to communicate with one another; a gesture, a look, a drawing, a phrase… A wine. Each and every one of us has our own personality, our own way of being and we all express ourselves in a particular way. Painting is a universal style for conveying emotions, sensations and bringing us closer to our world.

We identified a style that marked a turning point – a before and after in the way art is conceived: Expressionism – the epitome of a change of era and of how art transforms the way we perceive reality.

GRAPHIC SOLUTION

Pandemonium as a brand defies the status quo. Rules are there to be broken or bent, which is why graphically it mutates and is represented with a striking typography, full of personality and nuances.

With a simple, direct, powerful concept, we highlight what Pandemonium is: a brand which emerges from deep within, from the most primitive part of the human being, to bring calm and beauty.

This emergence that Paso Robles is experiencing sends out a clear message of innovation, spontaneity and of transformation, similar to certain artistic manifestations of the period, such as the Expressionist movement led by Pollock, Twombly and Mondrian.

We are graphically inspired by artistic madness, defiant creativity, a new universe to explore and discover. A visual narrative which interprets nature and elements associated with wine to show them in a different light.

Art is risk with creative approaches. It led future generations to create with passion, rather than trying to stay within boundaries or adhere to guidelines.

Layer upon layer of meaning so that the consumer interprets that balance represents the true, fair measure of things.

Together with the internationally acclaimed artist Carlos Corres, we reinterpret styles and build a new wine world based on what each of the wines has to offer:

Pollock: Cabernet Sauvignon – raw passion, energy, and strength. Twombly: Zinfandel – the metamorphosis of writing. Mondrian: Red Blend – the reinterpretation of reality.
